- The dam was opened around Noon on Thursday to help mitigate the effects of the heavy rain on the lake level, while still controlling the downstream flow.

- The MLRA Annual Meeting is scheduled for Saturday, July 26th at the Acton Fairgrounds. Registration and information booths will be available starting at 8:30, with the meeting to commence at 9:00 am Sharp.

- The Board would like to remind MLRA members that the the delivery of Sand, Loam, Gravel, etc. to your property requires a proper permit from the Code Enforcement Officer of your Town. The introduction of sand to upgrade or create a beach is in violation of the Shoreland Zoning Laws of the State of Maine.

- 08/08/08!! The 4th annual golf tournament is filling up fast! Don't forget to register using the entry form. This years entry fee is $100 per golfer ($80 for a junior), which includes golf fees, cart, BBQ lunch, 10 raffle tickets, 1 "mulligan" and entrance into the putting contest. Please remember that any proceeds from this event go to support the Acton Shapleigh Youth Conservation Corps and their efforts to improve and maintain the Mousam Lake watershed.

501(c)3 Tax Exempt Status Accepted by IRS

The Board of Directors of the Mousam Lake Region Association are pleased to announce that the Association has been granted 501(c)3 tax exempt status as a charitable organization by the Internal Revenue Service. All contributions to the Association are tax-deductible as charitable contributions. Please consider adding the M.L.R.A. to your charitable donation list for 2008. Anyone wishing to make a 2008 tax-deductible contribution to the Association can do so by forwarding a check or money order made out to the Association and mailed to P.O. Box 333, Springvale, ME 04083.

WANTED!!!!

Volunteers for the Mousam Lake Plant Patrollers

We are looking for people interested in patrolling Mousam Lake via canoe or kayak, to routinely check vegetation along the shoreline. The purpose is to quickly identify any invasive aquatic plant that may have found its way into our lake. If found quickly, eradication is much more likely.

The goal is to find interested people from various locations around the lake to do late summer/early fall checks on our lake vegetation. You pick the date, time and location you wish to patrol. Any and all interested parties are welcome.

Come and join the party for a fun time.
