Membership
We have a total of 448 members in the Association. There are no new members to report as of this printing. Please note that dues should be paid by June 30th.

If you know of anyone who may be interested in joining the MLRA, please have them contact Helen Valliere for membership information.

Inspections
April inspections were performed without incident. However, there was a recent report of three cottages being broken into on 13th Street. Please be sure to take precautions with your property.

For inspection purposes, your two Year 2002 Membership Stickers should be placed on your property where they will be clearly visible. One should face the Lake and the other the street side of your camp. Any inspection questions should be directed to Larry Valliere.

Board of Directors
The Board of Directors met on Sunday, June 9th, at the Potting Shed Restaurant. The next meeting will be held on Saturday, July 27th.

Summer Activities

Plant a Shrub Day
Sunday, June 30th

We’ve been making some progress in the planting of buffer zones, so let’s keep it going! Shrubs and other ground plants act as a filtering mechanism for runoff to the Lake. If we all pitch in, we can help to minimize phosphorus loading from land runoff. Don’t forget to tie a yellow ribbon around your plants to show your support for conservation.

Light Up the Lake
Wednesday, July 3rd

Place a flare or flashlight on your shoreline at dusk and light up Mousam!. Please be sure not to leave any open flames unattended. An adult should always be present with children.

NOTE: Due to Independence Day falling on a Thursday this year, our usual July 4th events will take place on the weekend following the holiday.

Boat Parade
Saturday, July 6th, 1 p.m.
Rain Date: Sunday, July 7th

Boats will line up at 1:00 p.m. at the foot of the Lake by Rogers Bridge. Boats are requested to stay in line behind the lead Lake Watch boat. We will proceed to Carpenter’s Cove where the judges will announce the winners and award prizes. Winners will be chosen from big and small boat categories. First place boats receive $100, second place $70, and third place $50! Big boat category includes all pontoon boats. Small boat category includes all other boats (single hull).

The theme this year is to show our American spirit, so decorate your boats in true patriotic style! Please do not overload your boats, drive slowly, and be sure to have enough life jackets on board for everyone. All children should be wearing proper flotation devices.

Fishing Derby
For Kids 16 Years & Younger
Saturday, July 13th
9 a.m. — 3 p.m.
Rain Date: Sunday, July 14th

Registration: 8:30-9:00 a.m. at the foot of the Lake beach area.
Directions to the actual fishing site will be given out at registration. The derby will begin at the foot of the Lake and end at the Corrs’ dock in Carpenter’s Cove.

As is our tradition, prizes will be awarded for the heaviest fish, the longest fish, and to the youngest angler to catch a fish. Prizes are being donated by Beadle’s and will be given out at 3:00 p.m. Bring the kids down to try their luck!
Note: We need volunteer judges for either the fishing derby or the boat parade. Please contact Jim Corr if you would like to participate. Thanks!
