Winter Inspections
Yearly inspections have been completed with nothing unusual reported externally. However, since we did have some severe cold spells and a deep ground freeze, property owners should check for any internal damage to plumbing, etc., when opening up their camps this year.

Please note that one of your two Annual Membership Stickers must be VISIBLE from the STREET SIDE of your camp. If it is not, your camp could be overlooked during inspection.

The other sticker should be placed on the Lake side of your camp. Both should be easily seen from either direction. If you have any questions regarding the camp inspections, please contact Larry Valliere.

Board of Directors
The Board of Directors met on Saturday, April 10, 2004, at The Potting Shed Restaurant. The next meeting will be held on May 8, 2004 at the Potting Shed.

Lake News
On Friday, February 27th, we lost a past president of the Mousam Lake Region Association and a resident of the lake for forty years, Ernest R. “Ernie” Hughes, at the age of 76.

Ernie wintered in Rochester, NH and summered on the lake prior to retiring to Naples, FL in 1998. He was a member of the American Legion and a veteran of the U.S. Navy who served during the Korean War.

Ernie is survived by his wife of 48 years, V. Doris, and two children, Kathleen (and Rich) Raffio of Wantagh, NY, and Jo Ann (and Tom) Brennan of Schaumburg, IL. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Desiree, Tony, Anna, Doretta and Brigette.

Ernie will not only be remembered as a good friend and neighbor, but with sincere appreciation for his past service and support of the MLRA. Our thoughts and sympathy are with his wife and family at this sad time.

Coming Events

PLANT A SHRUB DAY

Sunday, June 27th

As you know, Mousam Lake has a very heavily developed shoreline. It also has very porous, sandy soil. Because of this, we must all be aware of the importance of buffering the shoreline to help keep pollutants out of the lake. On Sunday, June 27th, help out by planting a shrub along your waterfront to conserve our lake environment. Thanks for your support!

LIGHT UP THE LAKE

Saturday, July 3rd

As a prelude to the festivities of the 4th, place a flare or flashlight on your shoreline at dusk and light up Mousam Lake! Note: Please don’t leave any open flames unattended. Adults should always be present with children.
