Mousam Lake Region Association

Membership Application

The Mousam Lake Region Association (MLRA) was organized in 1956 by a group of lake residents for the purpose of advancing the general recreational, environmental, civic, commercial, and industrial interests of Mousam Lake and of the towns in which the lake is located.  During the annual meeting in July, 2007, the membership approved revised bylaws to change the Association's purpose to preserving and protecting the natural character of Mousam Lake and its surroundings, enhancing the water quality and to educate and promote responsible use of the lake as a public recreational facility for today and for future generations.

In December of 2007, the Association was granted 501(c)(3) tax exempt status as a charitable organization.  The Association is nonpartisan, non-sectional, and non-sectarian.

Over the years, the Association has been instrumental in heightening the environmental awareness of the residents of Mousam Lake.  It has provided environmental educational information to its membership and lake residents, as well as the resources, funding, and manpower for a successful water testing program to help ensure the protection of the water quality of Mousam Lake.

Below are just some of the benefits received by members for just $30 per year Membership Dues:

  • Winter inspections of camps (3 per year) and notification to owners of any damages.
  • Annual placement, maintenance, and removal of the navigational buoys and markers supplied by the State of Maine to ensure safe boating on Mousam Lake.
  • A comprehensive water quality testing and monitoring program that is organized, funded, conducted and administered by the MLRA.
